International multidisciplinary discussion seminar

organised by the Czech-Austrian Energy Expert Group (CZ-AT EEG) in cooperation with the Czech Technical University in Prague, the Vienna University of Technology, the Institute for Economic and Environmental Policy (Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem) and the Czech Solar Association

Mission Solar CEE Region 2024: How important is solar technology in achieving the 2030 goals?

In 2024, across Europe, many important steps to the 2050 climate neutrality goal are in process, but we still face many problems and issues that need to be solved to succeed. The transformation of the energy sector is also bringing new solutions, many of which are in the solar sector such as floating PV, Agrivoltaics, building-integrated PV, or Vehicle-integrated PV. These sub-parts of solar energy can be very important supplements to rooftop and utility-scale solar energy, which are still crucial. Very closely connected are battery storages, flexibility or development of electric vehicles, and related infrastructure needs. To build a strong and secure future energy mix, all above mentioned solutions need to be developed together. During the workshop experts from diverse backgrounds and entities will discuss what opportunities and challenges bring the energy policy changes and energy transformation for Central European countries and what are the pathways to overcome these challenges (in the specific context of the Czech Republic and Austria).
