Objective | The aim of the discussion seminar is a discussion among academia a stakeholders about the perspectives of energetic sector in the Central Europe in the first half of the 21st century. Indeed, an exit from nuclear energy in some European states after the last nuclear catastrophe and the rising production of electricity from renewable resources in the last few years will be taken into account. Nuclear power plants produce about 28 % of electric power in Europe. However, after the Fukushima disaster, the nuclear power phase-out became a common opinion within European public. As a consequence, Germany has decided to fully abandon the nuclear energy sector in 2022. Some of the main questions for the discussion are: How will these measures influence energetic situation in Central Europe? Is the nuclear share replaceable by renewable resources, coal or other sources? What benefits and costs would a full nuclear energy phase-out imply for Central Europe? |
